You are my Sunshine

Pioneer Children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked.

Patterson missionaries like to rise early and squeeze in a teeny tiny walk.

Smoke from surrounding fires have made beautiful sunrises and sunsets on both horizons.  However, hundred plus temperatures are diminishing to mid 90's and we are breathing easier.

My better half, the engineer, has found ways to "beat the heat," using boxes and aluminum foil to cover our windows and some of our friends.

(A few ideas we learned from our night owls, Jake and Amber...then put two and two together!)

Cheers for pioneering!

Glad to be connected to some pioneers (having celebrated ten birthdays in eight weeks...we are also grateful to honor a few, one by one!)
Including one for our country!
By the way, Happy Birthday to Brent this week!

Recently a grandson explained to me that you don't have to push a handcart, to be a pioneer.

A forwarded Familysearch post reminded us of a great grandfather to our grandchildren

who founded a town in Idaho where a young boy invented the television.
If young men can dream dreams, senior missionaries can, too.

Last Sunday, Laurene recounted to a family of piano students the story of our meeting and
"Why we are Where we Are".
Ask, and maybe I can email you this fun letter home from Honduras in 2013.

We enjoyed reviewing the tale with new friends who we met this past month after a providential saving of the husband, who suffered a stroke, but due to help from heaven and prompt action of family and paramedics, continues to enjoy all his faculties.

We like to share our "golf" card game and a stuffed puppy (smaller replica to one my cousin Melanie suggested we use in a "Where's Waldo" game for grand kids.)
Can you find animal friends in any surrounding pictures?
The first photo is from a pre-mission Seattle trip...the second, our golf game with Gabby
And who needs stuffed, when you have real?

It is warmth which grows flowers and food

 and friends

Grateful for couple counterparts, we note angels on the right and left hand!

Remembering friends can help when we feel prickly or wilted...

How much sunshine will we find today?

P.S. Grateful to hear Zach's good news--blessing to begin using his nursing degree this month!

Happy sixth anniversary to mom and dad of

          amazing, nearly toddling sisters!
Happy Bookend to Summer

Love, Starkey Sunbeams
